Though I mean, if you're gonna dream, might as well dream big. No more likely than my idea for an alternate reality WWII sci-fi game using the Helldivers game engine tech, with Super Soldier Paratroopers parachuting in to battle Tesla Troopers and the like. We essentially Put Super Earth Back Together. :) And when we "win" the campaign, then we've successfully cleansed and taken back the planet. We could get more intricate urban-combat settings/maps than the City Defense mishes in Helldivers.Ĭampaign (I'm new to Reddit and don't understand why the font below is GIGANTIC? What am I doing wrong?-blackjackGT) Instead of Super Earth as the central hub, and us invading the three alien systems/sectors like in Helldivers -in Helldivers 2, the campaign map is a huge Super Earth map itself, divvied into three regions, again each under one alien faction's control, each with a variety of climates/environments just like earth has. Perhaps some surviving pockets of resistance on earth would come into play - we're helping them in their fight. We get an entirely new assortment of objectives, more in keeping with a rebellion/resistance campaign against entrenched aliens on Super Earth. Which would give the dev team an excuse to throw out all of Helldivers goodies and create something entirely new fitting this post Fall of Super Earth setting. Instead of the uber-equipped denizens of Super Earth Helldivers, you're the malnourished, improvised-weapons, equipment and vehicles Helldivers. Helldivers is one of the few console games to support cross-platform online play, so players on the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita can all play together, though cross-platform play between these versions and the PC. You start with our ships fleeing the burned out hulk of Super Earth and rebuilding forces on another planet, with the goal of eventually returning to Super Earth to clear it of all 3 alien factions, who've essentially united to take over fallen Super Earth - divvying its continents into ownership by the 3 factions. With cooperative, squad-based gunplay, Helldivers supports 2-4 player online or local play, peppered with voice chat and friendly fire alike. Steam forum post URL (in our Helldivers "Ideas+Suggestions" thread): Here's my crazy Helldivers 2 concept - inspired by Firaxis' XCOM 2 and the screen we see when we lose a global Helldivers campaing, which talks about "returning to get our vengeance" that I posted at Steam's Helldivers forum: While I'm pretty sure we'll see neither a substantive content update (like Turning Up the Heat: ), nor a Helldivers 2 given that the combined Helldivers/Gauntlet reboot is working on the super top secret new IP game project that maybe some year will be officially announced. Join over 2,000 other Helldivers in our Discord! Again, this isn't going to be enforced heavy-handedly, it's not like a single off-topic rant is bannable, but if you start spamming links to cash-for-click sites or whatever, you will get banned. This includes affiliate links and unrelated content. While we won't ban negative comments and so forth, if you have a repeated history of making caustic remarks for the sole purpose of being confrontational, we won't hesitate to ban - regardless of how monolithic you think you are in the community. We're not enforcing this rule as a form of censorship, we're enforcing this because subreddits tend to get lots of new players, and the last thing we as a community should do is make people tuck tail and run. Clearly jokes and stuff are fine, but if you're harassing someone, that's not cool. Other than that, have fun, and be excellent to each other! We're really passionate about the game, so we ask that posts in this subreddit be relevant to Helldivers - other content should go on /r/gaming or /r/games. On the opposite end, those who prefer a more tactical approach and like to attack from the back can utilize a variety of defensive stratagems to keep them safe from danger - mostly. This is an unofficial subreddit for Helldivers. Those seeking a more up close and personal style of play will find the offensive stratagems useful for helping slaughter your foes and keep the blood flowing. These come in both offensive and defensive variations to best suit whatever playstyle you have. Everything from airstrikes to Hellpods containing bigger, badder weapons to defensive gear and extra supplies are at your fingertips." Baskin then moves into talking about different stratagems that you and your team can implement on the battlefield. Your greatest aids as a Helldiver are stratagems: powerful tools that can be summoned with short button combinations. Firstly, Baskins divulged that: "Creating your loadout feels like part of the mission prep: changing your weapon to suit not only your appetite for destruction but the mission and enemy types you might encounter.
